Kristen Stewart Recalls Her 'First Time' With 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'

During MTV's Sneak Peek Week, the actress and 'Snow White' co-star Sam Claflin remember their erotic MTV 'After Hours' segment.

You may recall a little MTV "After Hours" segment called "Erotica," in which Josh Horowitz had the cast of "Snow White and the Huntsman" read an excerpt from "Fifty Shades of Grey."

While Chris Hemsworth could barely make it through the reading, Kristen Stewart laughed at some of the lines, Charlize Theron attempted to act out the scene and Sam Claflin wooed us with his luscious tone.

When we caught up with Stewart and Claflin again for MTV's Sneak Peek Week, leading up to Sunday's MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET, we asked the "Twilight" star if reading the erotic tale sparked her interest in the role of the timid Ana Steele.

"They should ask me!" she joked. "No, I'm kidding. [During 'After Hours'], that was the first time I read it."

Stewart is currently up for two Movie Awards along with her "Breaking Dawn" co-stars. Through the Movie of the Year and Best Kiss categories, she has a shot at the coveted Golden Popcorn. Voting is still open, so head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to make your voice heard! And who knows, maybe "Snow White" will grab some nominations next year. Until then, we're pretty sure Sam Claflin has a future in erotica books on tape.

"To be honest, having watched that back, I took it way too seriously," the actor laughed as he recalled the "After Hours" video. "All four of us did very different readings, but I actually properly read it. I got really into it."

Stewart didn't disagree. She gave it a good try, but Claflin is unbeatable.

"What happened to Sam before he was an actor? I was trying to get a job," he joked. "I will do anything for money."

Horowitz brought out all three books in the "Fifty Shades" trilogy wrapped in a ribbon for both actors as a going-away present. Now they have their own copies of E L James' series to take with them as they travel. Though don't expect to see KStew reading her copy as she jets off to and from LAX.

"When people read this on airplanes," she said, "I'm like, 'Whoa. Take that blanket off your lap! Get off the plane. Sick!' "

Claflin, however, has a different reaction.

"I'm like, 'Can I borrow that after you?' "

Abstract

Antenna, as the device that couples energy between waveguide and free space, has been recognized as a critical element that can either enhance or constrain system performance in mobile communications. With the rapid development of personal wireless communication and internet access, multimedia services such as video and image are introduced into handheld terminals. Meanwhile, with the popularization of the third generation mobile communication technology in the global, more and more communication frequency bands are used. This imposes a technical problem on electromagnetics and antenna design: how to make the antenna not only small, conformal, but also multi-band, wide- band and versatile.In this thesis, a compact, low profile antenna used in handheld wireless communication terminal is proposed, which can receive communication signals from 3 bands including GSM, GPS and UMTS simultaneously.Based on the application background of the antenna, we designed several feasible system configurations: including a monopole antenna with meandered branch structure and another monopole antenna with long, straight and folded branch structure. They are in the size of 41mm?9.5mm?6.5mm, and both can cover the GSM, GPS and UMTS bands with their own advantages and disadvantages. According to the request of the design, the size of the antenna is reduced further and further. We make use of the different advantages of the two models above, and finally an antenna in the size of 40mm?6.5mm?3mm which can receive communication signals from 3 bands including GSM, GPS and UMTS at the same time is designed with some modification structures including adding a load, or adding a grounding line to change the antenna to a double PIFA structure. The bandwidth of the antenna is successfully broadened by adding an impedance matching network to the antenna. Especially in the GSM band, the absolute bandwidth can achieve about 100MHz which means the relative bandwidth is as wide as 11%. On the other hand, a plastic antenna base is added to make the antenna structure much firmer. And with the base, the performance of the antenna is largely improved by changing the position of the feeding point. Measured results show the radiation efficiency of the antenna can achieve -4dB level at all the GSM, GPS and UMTS bands. According to the problem we meet when the antenna is placed in the commercial phone model, the effect of the ground on the performance of the antenna is analyzed. Also, a kind of triple-band antenna with a slot in the ground is designed, which can solve the problem above successfully.

But it is everywhere and at any time, and plays ?watch? or ?watchdog? role of social fairness and justice relying on the citizen?s right to know and media coverage right. Due to some phenomena happened in government departments, such as ?trading power for money?, ?trading rights? and abuse of power, it is urgent for news and public supervision to assist judicial supervision, legislative supervision and other supervisions. A number of facts and policy orientation show that news and public supervision has become one of the most effective measures to promote legal administration and hold back the corruption.In recent years, news and public supervision have always been the focus of our government and the community. This supervision has gradually become the key of improving press authority, the sword of discovering social scandal, the precursor of correct decision-making and the driving force of democracy and legal system construction. With the development of politics, economy, culture and society, the news and public supervision mechanism is also facing a series of reforms. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical significance to discuss the orientation and initiatives of the news and public supervision of the county government power operations in the new situation.Recently, more and more researchers have focused on the government supervision by news media in counties (cities), but there are rarely specific researches. Based on the research in the C County and the four typical case analyses, an attempt in this dissertation is made to carry out research on news and public supervision by combining normative research and empirical study.This dissertation is made up of the introduction and three main parts.In the introduction, the origin of the subject and its theoretical value and practical significance are clarified. The relevant literature has been reviewed. The main research method and writing framework are stated, and the innovations of the dissertation are specified.In the first part, the related concepts, the relevant theoretical and policy bases of the news and public supervision of the county government power operation are described and defined.In the second part, firstly taking C County in Hubei Province as an example, the situation of news and public supervision in the county has been analyzed. Secondly, with several typical cases about county news and public supervision in 2007 for the samples, the operational status of county external news and public supervision is analyzed deeply. Thirdly, the status of the county internal supervision with the external supervision are compared and discussed. Lastly, The difficulties and reasons for the news and public supervision of the county government power operation are analyzed.In the third part, the relevant initiatives are proposed to reform and improve this power supervision. It suggests that news and public supervision of the county government power operations should be improved and perfected in the aspects of the staff qualities, system, legislation and environment.The innovations or characteristics of this dissertation are shown as following:Firstly, innovative research methods are adopted. Most researches on supervision of the county government power operation by news media are normative research. An attempt in this dissertation is made to carry out research on news and public supervision in county by combining normative research and empirical study.Secondly, this dissertation shows creativity according to the content. Based on the actual situation of the county-level governments in China, the development and existing problems about the news and public supervision of the county government power operation are analyzed deeply. The specific countermeasures of the county government power operation are discussed in the aspects of the staff qualities, system, legislation and environment.

Beryl soaks Ga., Fla. coasts, now a depression

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) ? The remains of Tropical Storm Beryl soaked beach vacations and some Memorial Day remembrance services in southern Georgia and northern Florida on Monday and knocked out power to tens of thousands, though emergency officials said it hasn't brought any major damage.

The storm made landfall just after midnight Monday near Jacksonville Beach in Florida with near-hurricane-strength winds of 70 mph (113 kph), according to the National Hurricane Center. Sustained winds had died down to about 35 mph (55 kph), leading forecasters to downgrade the storm to a tropical depression and cancel all warnings and watches less than 11 hours after it made land.

Joyce Connolly, of Hurricane, W.Va., a doctor of theology, came the Jacksonville Beach for the holiday and the Jacksonville Theological Seminary's scheduled graduation. Connolly said she and her daughters had watched the weather forecasts about Beryl, but thought they would be OK.

"It definitely changed our vacation to unfortunate circumstances that we're not happy with, but you just have to live with it," Connolly said. On Sunday, she said they "actually walked over here on the little walkway, the boardwalk, and the wind was just too bad."

Bands of rain sprayed Georgia's 100-mile coast, where veterans groups braved the weather as they marched ahead with traditional graveside observances for Memorial Day. At Savannah's historic Bonaventure Cemetery, where a plot reserved for veterans had small American flags at each tombstone, the downpour paused just as a crowd of about 100 starting arriving.

"When we were setting up, I had a different shirt on and I got soaked to the skin. My socks and my underwear probably are, too," said Jim Grismer, commander of American Legion Post 135 in Savannah. "I had so many people trying to talk me into moving it inside. But I said then you can't have the live firing salute and the flag raising."

Robert Schulz, an 80-year-old former Marine who served in the Korean War, held a folded umbrella in one hand as he saluted with the other during the service. Schulz said he and his wife briefly considered skipping the ceremony for the first time in 10 years.

"I said it would be terrible if nobody showed up," Barbara Schulz said. "We had to come for our veterans."

Except for ruining holiday plans, the rain was welcome on the Georgia coast, which has been parched by persistent drought. In McIntosh County south of Savannah, emergency management chief Ray Parker said a few roadways had been flooded for a brief time but the ground was quickly soaking up the 1 to 2 inches of rainfall that had fallen so far.

"We've needed it for a long time," said Parker, who said the worst damage in his county had been caused by trees falling on two homes overnight. "We were lucky that we didn't get 3 to 4 inches in 30 minutes. Most of it soaked right in before it had a chance to run off. It fell on an empty sponge."

A frontal system coming south from the Great Lakes is expected to push weakened Beryl into the Atlantic Ocean later in the week. Georgia Power reported about 2,900 people were without power Monday morning. Jacksonville city officials say 20,000 were without power and bus service was canceled because of so many flooded roads, downed power lines and trees.

Streets in Jacksonville Beach were unusually vacant. Bands of blinding rain alternated with dry conditions.

Taylor Anderson, captain of Jacksonville Beaches' American Red Cross Volunteer Lifesaving Corps, said he was coordinating safety procedures with local government officials. The beach was closed, but before it was on Sunday, lifeguards over and over again had to warn people to get out of the water, he said.

"Now that the storm's finally onshore and people can see that it's so dangerous and the winds and the current are up, people are lot more hesitant to go in, more so than yesterday," Anderson said.

The weather system also would likely complicate things for returning holiday travelers, some of whom had to scrap their beach and camping trips early because of the weather. Cumberland Island National Seashore off the Georgia coast will be closed at least through Tuesday and park Superintendent Fred Boyles said campers were asked to leave the area Sunday. He said the park does not seem to have serious damage.

In northeast Florida, several Memorial Day events were canceled, including one honoring veterans at the St. Augustine National Cemetery and a parade in Palatka.

"I don't mean to sound mushy, but today is Memorial Day and I hate that it ruined some plans," said Glynn County, Ga., emergency management director Jay Wiggins. "But that's just the nature of the weather." His county between Savannah and Jacksonville also had some downed trees and power outages, but there the rain is also welcome.

"I know it had a lot of folks worried, but it certainly will help us," he said.

Beryl was expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain to parts, with some areas getting as much as a foot. Forecasters said the storm surge and high tide could bring 2 to 4 feet of flooding in northeastern Florida and Georgia, and 1 to 2 feet in southern South Carolina.

Officials reported no serious injuries, but the Coast Guard said crews in Charleston Harbor in South Carolina rescued three people and a dog from a sinking recreational vessel late Sunday morning.

WASHINGTON ? It?s a mortgage problem that is likely to intensify as home-owning baby boomers by the millions shift into retirement: Although they may have significant financial assets tucked away in retirement accounts, their diminished monthly incomes may not be sufficient to meet some lenders? hyper-strict underwriting rules.

Jim Eberle of McLean, Va., found this out the hard way when he applied to refinance his mortgage. After spending much of his career working for banking industry trade associations in Washington, Eberle, 68, decided to take advantage of this spring?s unprecedented low interest rates with a 2.89% adjustable-rate 30-year loan offered by a large Midwestern bank.

To his shock, Eberle was rejected ? the first time in 45 years of homeownership and eight home loans. The reason for the turndown: insufficient income.

?To get rejected was incredible,? Eberle said, because based on the extensive documentation he provided the bank, he looked highly qualified. He had substantial checking, savings and 401(k) account holdings and a net worth he describes as ?in seven figures.? The appraisal the bank did on his house showed it to be worth $664,700 ? more than double the $322,000 refi he was seeking. His credit score, according to TransUnion, was 826, indicating minimal risk of default.

Yet the bank ?told me it could not make the loan because, even though I have sufficient [liquid] assets and a high credit score,? his monthly Social Security payments, bank deposits, checking accounts and 401(k) plan, he said, ?were not enough.?

How commonplace is Eberle?s experience? Conversations with mortgage lenders and analysts suggest that it is happening more frequently, thanks to some large banks making their underwriting standards so stringent that the old joke ? they?ll only lend to people who don?t really need the money ? is beginning to resemble reality for some borrowers.

Eberle said he was willing to pull funds from his checking and banking deposits and set them aside to make up any perceived monthly income shortfalls. ?I was willing to do whatever it took,? he said. But the bank still said no.

Mortgage market experts, such as Dennis C. Smith, co-owner of Stratis Financial in Huntington Beach, are not surprised at Eberle?s experience. Smith had a recent client ? a physician seeking a $350,000 loan with $2.5 million in bank accounts ? who was rejected by one lender because the deposits, which were proceeds from an inheritance, had been in his account for just eight months. This was too short a time period to satisfy the bank?s unyielding standard.

Part of the problem here, Smith said, appears to be overcorrections by some banks to the lax underwriting that characterized the years leading up to the housing bust ? especially see-no-evil practices such as ?stated income,? where the loan officer accepted the monthly income number provided by the applicant with no verification.

But another factor, said Bruce Calabrese, president and co-founder of Equitable Mortgage in Columbus, Ohio, is that some loan officers aren?t aware of techniques available for qualifying retirees who are asset-rich but income-deficient. For example, Calabrese?s firm employs ?annuitization? procedures acceptable to Fannie Mae to help borrowers over 591/2 qualify on income tests using their IRA and other retirement account balances.

?We take 70% of the total value of the funds and then spread them out over 360 months if the loan is a 30-year fixed and 180 months if the loan is a 15-year fixed. We also gross up their Social Security by 1.25%. So if they get $1,000 per month in Social Security income, we give them credit for $1,250 as long as they don?t have to pay income tax? on that income.

Jeff Lipes, vice president of Rockville Bank outside Hartford, Conn., uses similar income-qualification procedures sanctioned by Freddie Mac. Say you?re a senior with $1 million in a brokerage account. To help qualify you for a refi, Lipes would ?discount the value by 30% to $700,000 and use a conservative rate of return ? say 2% ? and that would give the person [an extra] $14,000 a year in income.?

Some of the computations can get complex, but the message here is clear: Just because a homeowner?s post-retirement income is below what it used to be, this doesn?t mean the person can?t refinance, get a new mortgage or buy a house, provided that he or she has sufficient retirement assets. Borrowers just need to shop around and deal with experienced loan officers who know the ropes and are willing to work with them.

Nats handle Braves, extend NL East lead

ATLANTA (AP) - Davey Johnson was frustrated Ross Detwiler wasn't attacking Atlanta's hitters when given a four-run lead in the first inning.

Now the Washington Nationals manager has to decide if Detwiler will keep his spot in the rotation or it will be time to give Chien-Ming Wang a chance.

Rick Ankiel hit a two-run triple in Washington's four-run first inning, Ryan Zimmerman padded the lead with a three-run double in the seventh and the first-place Nationals beat the slumping Atlanta Braves 7-4 on Friday night.

Wang (1-0) won in his season debut. He gave up one run in three innings after taking over for Detwiler, who gave up three runs, five hits and four walks in 4 1-3 innings.

"I was a little disappointed in Detwiler that he didn't take charge and go after them," Johnson said.

Asked if Detwiler's inability to last five innings and Wang's strong showing could lead to consider a change in the rotation, Johnson said "Yes and no."

Johnson said he doesn't make those decisions "in the heat of the moment."

Johnson said Detwiler "has been outstanding all year long." He said the decision to take Detwiler out of the game with one out in the fifth "was especially difficult for me."

The Nationals moved two games ahead of Atlanta in the NL East.

After the game, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Chipper Jones will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left leg.

Gonzalez said the team has to make the move because it needs the roster spot to call up a catcher. Backup catcher David Ross left the game in the second inning with a right groin strain. Gonzalez said Ross has had the injury before and will not need to be placed on the disabled list.

Regular starter Brian McCann, who missed his fourth straight game with flu-like symptoms, took over for Ross.

Jones missed his seventh straight start with swelling and discoloration in his left foot, ankle and calf. He was hit by a grounder May 18 at Tampa Bay.

"It's not getting better and we're starting to play a little short- handed," Gonzalez said, adding he has been told Jones will need the full two weeks before he can play.

Jones walked in one pinch-hit appearance on Wednesday in Cincinnati.

Detwiler threw 100 pitches while giving up three runs. He said Wang's return from the disabled list did not add pressure to his start.

"There's no pressure on me," Detwiler said. "I have to go out there and do my job. There's no added pressure."

Detwiler said his problem was his command of his pitches but he said they were close to the strike zone.

"It wasn't terrible," he said. "It's an easy fix."

Ian Desmond had a two-run single in the Nationals' first inning. The Braves cut the lead to 4-3 before Zimmerman's bases-loaded double off Tim Hudson in the seventh.

Jason Heyward homered in the eighth, Martin Prado had two doubles and a triple and Matt Diaz drove in three runs with two hits for the Braves. Atlanta has lost five straight, its longest streak of the season.

"I just didn't hold up my end of the bargain," Hudson said. "We should have won the ball game. Four runs, we should win."

Tyler Clippard pitched a perfect ninth with two strikeouts for his second save.

Wang entered the game after Prado doubled and Detwiler walked Dan Uggla with one out. Wang gave up a two-run double to Diaz, who was thrown out going for a triple.

Wang allowed three hits and one run, Heyward's homer, in three innings.

A left hamstring injury in spring training kept Wang out this season before he came off the disabled list on Tuesday.

The Nationals took a 4-0 lead off Hudson (3-2) in the first. Desmond's bouncing single up the middle drove in Bryce Harper, who singled, and Zimmerman, who doubled. Hudson hit Danny Espinosa with a pitch before giving up Ankiel's two-run triple to left-center.

Hudson recovered with five scoreless innings. He retired the first two batters in the seventh before walking Wang, giving up a double to Steve Lombardozzi and a walk to Harper. Zimmerman's three-run double to center field gave the Nationals a 7-3 lead and knocked Hudson out of the game.

Hudson gave up a season-high seven earned runs, eight hits and two walks in 6 2-3 innings. The four runs he allowed in the first inning topped the three he gave up in his previous three starts.

Katy Perry's 'Part of Me' Shows Singer At Her Most 'Vulnerable'

'I think it's important ... for people to not think people in my position are perfect,' Perry tells MTV News.

Katy Perry is not looking to hold anything back when she releases her 3-D concert movie, "Part of Me," in July. Shot throughout 2011, the film takes fans backstage on her California Dreams Tour, into the studio with the singer and on set for her videos, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the hard work involved in being a pop star.

Yet, with so many moments captured for this movie, Perry admits it's hard to narrow down the one scene that all fans will be talking about.

"There's lots of moments," Perry told MTV News at the Pepsi Fleet Week Katy Perry "Part of Me" Concert. "I love making music videos and I like them to be jam-packed visually, and I want there to not be a dull moment in this film. There's really high-energy moments. Of course, there's the concert. If some people didn't see the show — which a lot of people haven't seen the show because really I've done 124 shows — but a lot of people couldn't get a ticket or they just couldn't make it out that night, so I cut together the best of the show."

But there is much more to this film than the dazzling onstage performances. The singer is out to show all her Katy Cats the real Katy Perry. The film delves into Perry's struggle with making it as a singer, her strict Christian upbringing and, of course, her much publicized divorce from Russell Brand.

"There's a lot of background of how I got to where I am, but such a huge emotional palette in the movie, and it's going to be really exciting," Perry said. "It's the most intimate I've ever been. I mean that in a non-sexual way ... I mean it in a vulnerable way. And so I'm not scared of it because I think it's important for me, and important these days, for people to not think people in my position are perfect and that if they want to achieve this type of dream or achieve a goal that they have to be flawless, they don't."

And Perry admits she is far from flawless in this film, revealing to her fans that even though she may be one of the biggest pop stars in the world, she is still just a normal girl.

"What you see in the movie is all the mechanics of the operation," Perry said. "And there's a lot of me bloated, with zits, fat, not shaded, not carved, not snatched, just normal."

The "Katy Perry: Part of Me" concert film hits theaters July 5.
