No skis? No snowboard? Grab a tube at Snoqualmie Pass ...

Published: Saturday, February 2, 2013, 12:01 a.m.

At Snoqualmie Pass, playing in the snow means more than skiing or snowboarding.

You can also barrel down the slopes on giant inner tubes.

The Summit at Snoqualmie resort has 12 groomed tubing lanes, each about as long as a football field, with a tow line that quickly runs you back to the top so you can spend more time taking rides down.

The lanes are available in two-hour sessions from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $20 to $22 for ages 13 and older, $18 to $20 for ages 6 to 12, and $5 for ages 5 and younger.

There's no age limit, and small kids can double up or ride with an adult.

The tubing center is at 2183 Highway 906 at Snoqualmie Pass. Take I-90 east to exit 53 and turn right onto Yellowstone Trail Road, then left on Highway 906.

For more information, call the tubing center at 425-434-6791 or go to www.summitatsnoqualmie.com.

For other snowplay information, call the Summit at Snoqualmie, 425-434-7669, or check the website.

Groomed trails

The Summit at Snoqualmie has well-graded and groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The Summit rents equipment too. It's open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and continues to early April depending on snow conditions. Trail fees range from $14 to $19, and there's no charge if you're 70 or older or 6 and younger. Call the Summit nordic center at 425-434-6778, or go to www.summitsnoqualmie.com.

REI Alderwood also has a snowshoe rental program. Adult snowshoes are $20 the first day, plus $10 for each additional day, and youth rentals are $12 the first day and $6 for additional days. The store doesn't charge for pickup and drop-off days.
